I’m Mary Bella, the “Maestra” of Maestra Web Design. I have 20 years of experience designing nearly 150 websites for composers, conductors and classical musicians of all kinds.
With a Masters in Music Performance alongside my many years of web design and arts administration experience, classical music is my “niche” and my passion. I can help you assemble, organize and proofread promotional materials like repertoire lists and compositions. I can help you select a photographer and a stylist and narrow down your selection of images. And, I can design a website that suits exactly your needs and your professional image.
Recent Websites for Composers & Conductors:
Kristian Alexander, conductor
KristianAlexander.com
Kristian had a comprehensive website already, but it was getting unwieldy and wasn’t mobile responsive. We setup a dynamic calendar plugin that automatically brings his next performance to the homepage. We used a sliding banner to showcase some great performance photos and reviews. And we made sure to incorporate his social links front and centre for people to connect with him.
Kelly-Marie Murphy, composer
KellyMarieMurphy.com
Kelly-Marie wanted a website quickly and on a budget, and my WordPress starter kit was just the ticket! I set up WordPress and a theme with a custom banner, a few initial pages and her audio samples, and she did the rest! She now has a clean, professional website she can keep up-to-date herself.
We later added a sortable, searchable directory of her compositions, which makes the site that much more useful and user friendly.
Michael Newnham, conductor
MichaelNewnham.com
Michael Newnham wisely had professional promo photos done before we started designing his site, and that really helped pull things together and gave the site a polished look. His photos were taken by Bo Huang, and styled by Liz Parker, with hair & makeup by Ivy Lam – all of whom I would highly recommend as I have seen their excellent work and used it in many musician’s sites before.
William Weigel, composer
WeigelMusic.com
Bill had started putting together a WIX site when he came to me for help. We cleaned up the design, made it more consistant, attractive and easier to navigate, and made sure that everything would work on mobile as well.
Alexander Weimann, conductor & harpsichordist
AlexanderWeimann.com
Alex loves the clean lines and striking high contrast theme that highlights his dramatic photos and achievements. Even though the site was originally set up in 2013, it has stood the test of time with addition of mobile responsive styling.
Marjan Mozetich, composer
Mozetich.com
Marjan had a 10-year-old website that was in dire need of a revamp. With his extensive library of compositions, we made sure everything was well organized and easy to find. We also brought a couple of reviews and a short introductory bio front and centre on the homepage. Marjan wanted everything clean and simple, so we streamlined the design with just the essentials.
Why do you need a Website?
A well-designed website makes you much more accessible to the general public, the press and of course to musicians who are interested in performing your work.
You’ll have one web address where musicians, teachers, conductors and ensembles can view your entire portfolio anytime; including samples of your work, biographical and repertoire information, photos, audio and video clips and your schedule of upcoming premiers and performances. You can also include contact information with links to your agent or manager, to any other website, and to your social media profiles, and a form that sends securely to your own email or to your representation.
We can even include an online sales area where you can sell PDF copies of your scores!
Your site will be unique to your specifications – graphics, fonts, backgrounds and colours will all be chosen with as much or as little input from you as you want.
